The BNSF Railway Technology Services department drives innovation and efficiency by developing and maintaining advanced technological solutions across the network. This team ensures a robust IT infrastructure, supports critical applications, and enhances cybersecurity measures. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely. Our leaders also foster a culture where work life balance, which requires flexibility for when life happens, is important and respected.Key responsibilities may include:Design, develop, test, and maintain custom Edge based real-time applications for Geometry Cars/Locomotives (ODIN) and Optical systems (THOR) in general and Geo engine in particular.Providesbusiness stakeholder and executive communications while collaboratingwith cross-functional project teams to identify, remediate, and escalate project delivery challenges. Carryout requirement gatherings and translate them into effective solutions.Utilize and develop in cloud technologies like AWS or Azure to enhance, compliment or replace existing geometry data processing software.Utilize C, C++, Python, SQL to develop embedded software for different edge systems and carry out Breakfix and implement any changes.Optimize configurations to improve system performance, scalability, and user experience.Implement best practices for security, data governance, and compliance.Participate in code reviews and contribute to the overall technical excellence of the team.Stay updated on platform updates, industry trends, and emerging technologies to recommend and implement improvements.Ensure stability and provide consistent business support related to ODIN and other edge measurement systems or test vehicles. • Minimum2 years of experience with embedded system development using C, C++ and/or allied languages.
• Strong proficiency in Linux based developmentProficiency in data structures, algorithms, and multithreading.
• Proficient in release management and version control.
• Experience with agile development methodologies and software development life cycle.
• Bachelor's degree with a preference in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or Business, and/or equivalent formal training, certifications, or work experience.Preferred Qualifications:
  Experience in OpenCV, RHEL 9, Docker, Azure DevOps, and Teensy board development would be a huge plus. Hands-on experience with OpenCV. Experience with Teensy board programming and embedded systems. Familiarity with Docker for containerization and microservices architecture. Proven ability to debug, analyze, and resolve performance bottlenecks in complex applications. Experience with Databricks and or similar tools. Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS and Azure
